I think one of the main purposes of doing the exercise to think through all the assumptions is to make the &quot;what we don&#039;t know we don&#039;t know&quot; quadrant as small as possible.  Involving other people in the process helps too, as they will often come up with other things that we may have taken for granted and thus made an unconscious assumption.</description>
